While Castle takes a little 2 week hiatus, it is a good time to bring you some behind the scene insights from our beloved costumer Luke Reichle. As a tradition, Luke (@RedCarpet Luke) does a live-tweeting session on twitter during the each airing episode, letting us know the significance of the costumes actors and actresses are wearing and where are they from.

Secret Santa

“I saw daddy–pardon me–mommy kissing Santa Claus on the set of Castle” kicks off Christmas-special live tweeting. In early on Luke offers us three guesses to spot who is the designer of Beckett’s brown leather coat. And us, dedicated fans don’t reallu need whole three guesses – it was Burberry. Luke really can’t resist Burberry coats, when it comes to dressing Stana. Beckett’s badass boots from the big three: @ClergerieLondon @Gucci and @JimmyChooLtd. Susan’s green print tree trimming dress was from @josienatori and much of her jewelry was picked up in Laredo TX. Her tree trim look is blouse by Tori Burch, pant by Rag and Bone and cut velvet robe by @RedCarpetLuke.  “It’s a tossup as to which had more bling decor: Martha or the tree”.Alexis’ handknit beret is from a group of pieces Luke bought from a yarn artist England a few years ago. It’s been waiting for its star turn. “LOVE Molly’s Xmas shopping outfit! Way great coat by W118”. As turns out Luke and costume department did a lot of work on this episode with Adelle Costumes in Hollywood. Great place to rent all occasion costumes.

Luke’s  friend and fellow swimmer Paul Holahan directed #SecretSanta episode giving us great long shots of Beckett that keeps her shoes in the frame! “I LOVED the Santa crowd! How sweet are they! It allowed me to indulge in all my Xmas jazz. Love the saturated reds and xmas lights. Yes, we were up to our…reindeer in Santa suits. I may not be able to look at red velvet for a while. We put up a pink tree in the dept.”

Significant Others

Luke starts the New Year 2013 with golden words: “2013: The Year the Message Gets Out! Dress the Body You Have. Love the Body You’re Dressing! Oh, and NOW! You don’t have to wait to “get it right” to love your body. Appreciate what you got now. “Better” is a State of Mind.”

But let’s get the info about the clothing now then Stana Katic in the episode: Boots by @Prada. Top by @HelmutLang. Body by Katic! The Burberry plaid Beckett wore was from season 3, and Luke is saying that its long gone from the stores. Next clothing for Stana – she rocks head to toe @helmutlang. Well, head to ankle. Her boots are @Gucci. “Beckett’s change 2 labels are @jcrew @PaigeDenim, @StellaMcCartney, @StewartWeitzman and – what else – a FIERCE @Burberry quilted leather.”  The white blouse on the back of Beckett is from Burberry as are the pants.  With the beginning of crime scene scene, Luke shouts in twitter “Crime scene is scarf porn heaven!” We agree, Luke! It has been a long time since we saw scarves, thank you for that! Beckett’s crime scene red coat by @DVF the perfect shape handled by the deft hand of Diva Diane.

Darby Stanchfield (@darbystnchfld) works her maternal fashion instincts tonight as @NathanFillion ex-wife. She is in in lynx by Somper Furs. “@darbystnchfld works it out!”  Next, she stirs up the soup in layers of cashmere a la @ElieTahari and Max & Co. Darby also carries the torch of coat porn with a spectacular piece by GIII.  Final scenes of @darbystnchfld  - @Sportmax top and bottom teetering around in pumps by @BCBGMAXAZRIA. Luke says it was fun to dress Darby for the role. “I think Meredith spends all her alimony on clothes.

Martha’s fabulous tribal leggings came from Michael Mizrahi’s Larchmont store Library. They carry a lot of new designers. This one is RVN. Jon Huertas’ coat in the takedown scene is vegan shearling from Zara. “SO fab I had to buy one for myself.” His sweater comes out much more red than it is in person. Much more maroon on the hanger. Seamus Dever is too cute in @BananaRepublic Theory, and @Zegna.

Luke let us know that @JackWagnerhpk is actually a semi-pro golfer. He was his go-to source for golfer wear. He’s playing a kind of Tiger Woods/Scott Peterson. Nancy Lee Grahn was great fun to dress. Luke  keyed her upper Park Avenue outfit off her hair color. And a certain sense of ’80′s shoulder. Samantha Voss lays waste to to the artwork and gew-gaws. How much fun did Nancy Lee Grahn have with that scene. “The bitch is the skank…”

In the time of the People’s coice awards, many of the fans were asking Luke if he dressed Nathan – “Yes I dressed @NathanFillion for tonight. AND I made him practice going down the stairs. Good thing he’s a fast learner. But then, @NathanFillion can sing while standing on top of a moving bus. I’m just saying.”

Under The Influence

The episode of “Under the Influence” starts off with a loud music and bling. When Beckett arrives to the crime scene, she rocks the best leather trench of the season from @Burberry.  The blue sweater is Valentino, from late season 2! Luke loves to pull out the classics. And the scarf is from @JamiLynClothes. Later, Beckett wears a fab T-neck from @Maxmara beautiful colour and well made so it stands up to the beating we give clothes. Beckett’s awesome purple blouse is from @CalvinRucker

When it comes to Nathan’s clothing, Luke tweets “Long story to @NathanFillion green coat. Made it. I hated the colour. Dyed it 3 times & in the process gave it a fabulous soft hand. He loves it!” Jon Huertas works Seamuss hair fluffing nerves in @johnvarvatos. Seamus geeks out on Josie in @Canali suit, @jcrew coat, and a shirt from @SeizeSurVingt. Later he sports an @BananaRepublic look was taken directly off the mannequin in the Beverly Hills store. “I couldn’t have done better”.

Regina’s red sparkly diva dress was from @HauteHippy and Josie’s from @BCBGMAXAZRIA. Taylor Cole plays Josie to the T. The diva’s diva. Love the Louis the 14th receiving guests in her bed scene. With the “bling-y” suspect, Luke shares “Okay that was THE weirdest bling I’ve ever used. He could cut you in a slow dance with that thing. Bringing your own lighting guy to do your mug shot! It’s SO Barbara Streisand!”

Death Gone Crazy

#CastleGoneCrazy – starts off with @JordanBelfi coming back-oh so briefly-to Castle in a fabulous @sand leather piped sportcoat and @dsquaredesign shirt. “Eject.” Clearly it’s bras over sneakers at Castle.

Beckett leads the ‘inbreastigation’ in an @shoptrinaturk teal turtleneck over @Burberry navy wool drill coat. “Things go missing.” Fortunately one of those things was not Beckett’s claret crepe blazer from Zelda which was a repeat from her closet.  Martha works @HardTail for her yoga practice. Molly wears a magenta tweed jacket from Smythe showing off her killer waist. In the ice cream sunday scene she sports a remarkable sweater from @FreePeople.  Jon Huertas works Scarlett’s in a mixture of @jonvarvatos @RagandBone and a jacket by Drome. Scarlett’s jacket is from @EllieTahari. Simple, yet kick-a**

Here’s a little bit of history lesson from Luke:

Q: Do you know if there is a reason why men’s and women’s shirts button differently?
A: In the 19th century Victorian women generally did not dress themselves, so their buttons were designed to be handled by right-handed servants.

Thank you Luke for sharing your knowledge with us. It’s always interesting to know the background of the clothing of our favourite characters!

Don’t forget to vote at Luke for Shorty Award!
