During the months of August, Castle crew finished shooting the episode “Need to know” and started with episode 8 which title is yet to be announced.
In early days of August, both Andrew Bikichky and Christopher Brow tweeted about using a condor lift for the best shots. It was 80 ft high and carried few people in it. Plus the cameras. They used it for filming 50 foot high. Keep an eyes open for awesome shots in “Need to know”.
From the pictures we see the crew using blue lights a lot, as well as blue and yellow filters for the cameras – thats how the movie magic is done. With the new camera, the need for optical viewfinder disappeared and for Andrew, it is a bit weird and he misses it a bit. Using the optical viewfinder afforded greater clarity with contrasts with more definition as a result. For the question of how he compensates the difference, Andrew answered: “Squint more and sigh resignedly.” The new equipment besides the cameras are also the LED lights, taking the place of the older worn out lights.
The prop department takes care of the things like Beckett’s jewelry (including the engagement ring) and also the murder boards (If anyone is interested then Season 2 DVD has bonus video dedicated for this information). The shot of on-board camera feed from the toy tank was taken with small video camera. The crew usually gets scripts few days before shooting the episodes – a little bit later than actors. Average (script) page count for episodes varies depending on a scene, but usually stays between 1,5 to 3 pages. The page count also varies because of the number of actors in the scene.
While shooting the coming episode 5, “Time Will Tell” Andrew Bikichky posted a lot of behind the scenes pictures and gave us some information of the episode. When Rob Bowman is directing – dimly lit and lots of shadows. Instead of the smell of the Tetanus, Bikichky reported the smell to be asbestos on the location. The main part of the location shooting took place in the decommissioned power plant. Metal salvagers are taking it slowly apart but the two turbines have said to be working there occasionally. The “Time will tell” episode will bring to us Joshua Gomez from Chuck. Andrew thinks he has an amazing talent and he is as funny as ever. He can talk fast.
Here is a collection of tweets he has tweeted:
